Desert Race in Caliente Nevada!

Race day with friends and family!

Gary, Mitch, Doug, and myself drove down to this amazing new place called Caliente Nevada!  None of us had ever been there before.  We drove due west from Cedar City for 90 miles.  The terrain and landscape once we got closer, was very much like Moab.  It will be an amazing ride to take one day on the Harley.

Mitch, Gary's boss, took us in complete style, as we drove down in his 44 foot Motorhome!  Leather couches, on board shower, kitchen, and many other things!  I will have to have something like that someday!!  We got there late Friday night, got something to eat at the local burger joint, then called it a day!  Good company, great visits!

Saturday, Gary raced in a two stage, total race of 70+ miles of grueling desert terrain!  After the race, Gary mentioned that he came off the bike several times.  Unfortunately the last time a rock put a hole in his engine case, and he was no longer able to ride.

His first stage, when he came in to the pits for gas, he was in first place in his class.  He looked tired, but kept on going.  I can only imagine how tired and hot a person would get riding as hard and fast as they can in terrain that isn't at all familiar!

On they way home we ran into a flash flood due to some rain.  It crossed over the road and was rather intense... fortunately we were in a 53000 pound RV... so through it we went!!

Here are a few pictures from the event.
Captain Gary at the wheel.  Mitch got a bit sleepy, so Gary took over... first time for everything!!

So happy with his new 2017 Honda!

May 2013

Been a while... that's for sure!  Much has been happening as of late... some happy, some sad, but it's all part of this wonderful thing we call "Life".

Most currently we have wonderful news with the birth of our latest and 20th grand child.  Joe and Sarah welcomed there new son into the world 6 weeks early.  Little Parker James weighed only 5 lbs, and was 18" long.  For being so early he is doing amazingly well.  He's eating well, breathing well, and is looking great!
Here's a picture of the little guy and his Dad Joe.

Sarah did a great job!!  Here she is looking a bit tired with little Parker.
Joe and his family are coming to live with us for a few months!  It will be fun to have a new little baby around again.  Promises to be an eventful summer!

On a sad note, my wonderful Uncle Guy T. Baker passed away last Friday.  He lived a wonderful life and was always a positive person.  Even in the middle of all his struggles... he always found good things to say about life, people, and his situation.  He loved and took great care of Aunt Erma...  I'm going to miss him!

Now back on the positive side of things... Rhonda has been working very hard, doing what she loved making our yard look like the garden shows you see on TV.  She has a gift and loves getting down into the dirt!  With the rain that we have had lately, and now the sun... everything is exploding!  Now we can sit back and relax and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Emma and Justin had a new baby boy named Brandtly Christopher Smith 8 months ago... he's a total chunk now and his big sister Emery Clair loves him more than anything, and he loves her so... She can get him laughing like no one else can!  This is a picture taken when he was about 2 months old...  I'll have to find a current one and add it later.
Also, Emma and Justin purchased their very own home in Lehi.... they are loving it!!  We are so so so happy that they have their own place to call home, and to make their own!  Emery has a playhouse and sandbox in the fenced backyard.  We are so happy for them.

I need to find more pictures.

More later!

Good bye to 2011 and Welcome 2012!!

Was a very busy, productive, and difficult year!!

As I sat quietly reflecting on the events of 2011, I have to say that I'm glad that all my loved ones made it through. It was a hard year on many. Years of Economic difficulties, have taken there toll on many. But along with those difficult things, came wonderful things! The marriage of our daughter Emma, to a wonderful young man named Justin. He's so good to Emery! The pregnancy of our daughter Katie, soon to have her 4th son, to deliver the end of January, or first part of February, and the pregnancy of Kevin's wife Nicole, do deliver sometime in June. The purchase of a new home, which has everything that we were looking for. The ability to rent our previous home to our daugher Jenny, and husband Jon, with our little grand daughter Autumn.

Jason's wife Stephanie was baptised, along with her son Dillon. My brother in law Steven's daugther was baptised, and asked that I confirm her.

Emma's husband Justin is able to provide for his new family so that Emma was able to quit working at American Express.

Yes... Rhonda now is officially retired from the care giving business. It's with very mixed emotions that she will move into the next phase of her life. She now gets to focus full time on me!! ;-) And being a grandma to our 17 grand kids! We already miss little Emery at our house... I'm used to hearing her little voice, and getting a big hugs from her each morning... but it's good that she gets to be with her mommy now... What a blessing she has been in our lives!!

Gary is doing well in heber... working hard... being happy... we are thankful that he is doing so well. He is a master RC builder. Amazing to watch his creations at work. I'm sure he would be happy to show any of you, his neat toys.

Joe is moving forward with his wonderful little family. He lives in our previous home with Jenny and Jon, with his two children Josie and Xander. He has a new friend named Sarah, and she has a son Alex. We enjoy having them visit.

Kevin bought himself a racecar... he replaced the clutch himself. He let his old man drive it... fun times. We all seem to have a love of cars...

The family celebrated Grandpa Tew's 90 birthday down in Ephriam. It was good to have all the kids there!!

Be good to each other this year! We are all we have!!

Summer is going by way too fast!!!

Hello everyone... so much has been going on this summer that it is a complete blur! From buying a new home, potential new employment opportunities, to family reunions, heart issue requiring an emergency room visit, fishing with my Dad at lake Hill above ephriam, and on and on it goes.

Rhonda and I were able to visit Sun Valley Idaho where I attended the Utah Bankers Associate annual Bank Presidents summit. What a beautiful place! It's always a nice time to travel on the business dime! Here's a picture of the two Paul's preparing for one of the sessions...

Care to try your hand at a little adult miniture golf! What a crackup this course was! We made a new friend in Lawana, who was a great putter and put our team on the map!! We played Bingo, went for several long walks, and just has a nice time!!

Here are a couple pictures of Shoshone Falls just outside of Idaho falls... Due to the late spring/summer, and the heavy winter, the water is running very high! I have the power of water!!

2011 Update

Hello Family and Friends time to update you all on the happenings here that the Tew's Tree House....
Most recently, we had the pleasure to take a quick weekend trip to Boise Idaho... home of the wonderful Tim and Katie Richey family. First part of last week I got to thinking that it was high time that I see my daughters little men. I shared the idea with Rhonda, and she was all for it. So with the help of Emma and her flexibility at work, we were able to leave by 3:00. It's just a short 5.5 hour drive and we were there.
The twins were fast asleep, but the little man Marcus was still amongst the living! I was so happy to see Katie, Tim, and Marcus that night. The next morning we were greated with the little men, both in their high chairs having some breakfast... I was so excited to see their bright smiling faces. This is the silliest html editor... I can't seem to control where these pictures go... but hey... at least they are here... Here's another of our wonderfAdd Imageul Marcus...
We had a great time just hanging out and visiting... A quick trip to McDonalds and the play land was nice. Then we got to take a tour of Tim's new work place... He's got a corner office with a Window view!! We are so proud of Tim and his success in business... Nice job Tim!!
We watched Monster Truck videos with some Magic Man... way silly, but the little people loved it... We played trains, and cars, and really had a great time with the Jarrasic Park track that Uncle Kevin and Antie Nicole gave them... I'd add some more pictures, but for some reason it's not letting me... Sunday we went to church with the family and very much enjoyed their ward. It was just so nice being there and playing! We sure love our family!! I'll be back with more... once I figure out how to post more pictures... until then... Keep smiling!! The boys... well they sure loved listening to Grandma read them stories... While Tim and I watched Saturday football... well Grandma was down on the floor building towers with Marcus... Thank you Grandma for lettings us enjoy the game!!

Hunt in mountains above Vernal

Hello everyone... time to update you on a few things!

Life is very full and very interesting, and very rewarding and very frustrating, and very blessed, and .... well you get the picture! After all it's life!

Family are all working hard on their lives... some doing extremely well, while other are working hard on issues... all things are as they should be right now. Bless all my children in their various challenges... You can do it!! I know you can!!!

The hunt is over for this year! Sad for that, as it's so nice to take the trailer in the mountains, far away from work, phones and lifes pressures. Hunting is a great deal of work however, but it's nice to be physically tired and then end of the day instead of mentally tired... Makes for a great nights sleep!! Rhonda and I had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed the time we had hunting with Kevin!

Successful was our hunt! On Monday am after three days of working hard hiking the mountains, Kevin and I decided to do some road hunting to start out the day... We took the truck to an area where we had seen dows (female deer)... as we approached the area, there were several deer there... Kevin maned the field glasses to see if any were bucks (males) with horns... After seeing one run off, another came into view. I said... is that a buck, and as soon as he said yes... I took the shot with the muzzleloader (black powder)... It was a hit, but he ran off... not sure how much hiking we had to find him, Kevin walked down the road to find an access point to begin climbing up the mountain to find a blood trail... We... luck was on our side... after I hit the buck he ran only a few yards into the trees, then must have done a serious jump and landed on the road... We both couldn't believe our luck.... we loaded him in the truck and off we went!! Here's our guy!!

We continued to hunt for our Cow (female elk) but didn't have any luck. Unfortunately Kevin had to head back to work and school on Tuesday pm... but it was so great having time with him... He and Nicole are living life fully while living in Orem and going to school and working.

Back to the hunt... so the days came and went and I worked hard hiking through the dead fall and trees... each night I was completely spent, but got up the next day before light and went out again... well, Sunday morning came, that's the day we had to head home, and still no success... Well I made the decision to go out one last time... and went to an area that I hadn't worked thus far, but one of the other hunters in our group was successful in the area the day before... Well, I hiked a couple miles and decide to sit on a log and just watch and listen, figuring that I was sit in the quiet and not hear or see anything, much like I had done throughout the week... Well, I just got settled when I heard a crashing sound across the canyon... holy smokes I thought... what was that.... then I heard it again... grabbed my gun and removed the safety.... there they came... a herd of elk... 3 bulls and 5 cows... what luck!! Talk about being in the right place at the right time!!! And they were on a dead run!! So finding one in my scope was a real challenge... When I thought I had one, I took the shot... they all stopped, looked confused and turned direction and ran right in front of me! Not knowing if I had hit anything, I got a nice 4 point in my site and took another shot! This time he dropped immediately... I was shocked, and excited all at once!! After making sure that he wasn't going to get up and run off, I went to where I had taken the first shot... but there was nothing there!! I was so excited to have seen a herd of elk. After hunting this area for 3 years and never seeing one... then to see a herd... well it was amazing!! I joked with my friend Caleb Harper who is the one that has helped me get into hunting, that we were in search of Unicorns!! It was amazing!! Here's the amazing Elk we got!!

After making sure that he wasn't running off, I hiked back to camp and got help... Even my wonderful Rhonda, who is not a big fan of hunting came back to support me! She was so happy for me to have gotten one... Here are a few pictures of what we had to do to get the very heavy and very large animal out.

He's such a beautiful animal, and my first, I've decide to mount him and put him down in what Rhonda calls my "Man Cave"... Rhonda is amazing and is so open to trying new things, and supporting me in doing the same... Caleb who is an avid hunter, capped the Elk out in preparation for mounting... Sorry to those of you who are not in favor of hunting... But I need to tell you, that when we were butchering him, we cooked up the best steaks I've had in a long time... Elk is very lean and very good!! Nothing is going to waste... the meat that isn't good for steaks or roasts, we ground into hamburger!!

It was a productive, hard worked hunt! Thanks to all that helped me bring the Elk back!! The Honda 4wheeler earned it's keep this time round... did great!!
